The reason for this is to prevent damage to the fish as they like to roll on the line when landing and the breaded line will cut the fish. No ultra light rods will be allowed.

For casting jigs and spoons for Pike and shallow water Lake Trout, medium action rods, baitcasters or spinning reels with a minimum of 15 lb. mono test line for both Trout and Pike.

For fly fishing, nothing less than a 7 weight rod and preferably an 8 weight. We recommend 3 types of lines, floating, sink tip, and full sink lines.

We use 27 lb lead core line instead of down riggers. When using lead core line you must use a level wind reel to stop the lead core line from balling up on your reel.
